Kampot - First stop in Cambodia!

After almost two months in Vietnam, it's time to say goodbye! We had a great time in Vietnam and it's a great country to travel - highly recommended ;-)

From Can Tho we take a bus to Ha Tien, a border-town next to Cambodia. As it is a holiday (1st of May), we are happy that we get some help from Andy (an expat living in Ha Tien - he owns the Oasis Bar) to organize the boarder crossing. With two motorbike taxis off we go the 50 kilometres to Kampot, our first destination in Cambodia! It's a great ride :-)

Kampot is a very laid-back town located at a river and several nice restaurants invite you to have a cooling drink...

Kampot is famous for its pepper and salt. So we rent some bikes and discover the nearby salt-fields...

After a while we are on the countryside...

It's paradise for water buffalos!

And here they are, the salt-fields... It's so beautiful and relaxing to cycle through the fields...

On the way back we meet lots of locals and everybody is very friendly, the kids are waving and saying "Hello!" and smiling. Very good vibes here in Kampot, we love it!
