Well,
arriving in Gracias, another Honduran highland town, was kind of a bummer. Cold
15°C – yes, for us that’s really cold now – rainy weather. So we go to the nearby
thermal bath called “Aguas Termales Presidente”. It’s the “public” bath and on
weekends people tell us it gets really crowded. So we are lucky, it’s Sunday night
and just a few people come by. The hottest pool out of four has 42°C – it’s the
perfect warm up!
The next morning
we start with some extreme sports – the highest and wildest canopy in Central
America. So we go to a little village called La Campa. From a cliff it’s six ropes
down to the Plaza Central just behind the church.
The first
and highest rope…
We had kind
of really crazy weather: rainy, cold and cloudy weather which made the whole
adventure even more adventurous and challenging.
The longest
rope is longer than one kilometre…
From the
top of the cliff you see in the background, the canopy ends behind this church.
And finally the sun comes out.
Anyway, for
all the cold and rainy weather we got in the morning we decide to go again to a
thermal bath. This time the “privat” termal bath “Cento Turistico Terma del Rio”.
It’s called private but it’s public for everybody who pays the entrance (double
price of the “public” bath). But it’s Monday and Mondays they clean the bath because
of the crowds of the weekend. Just nobody tells us that, not even at the
tourist information. So instead of four pools just one is available. But because
of our big disappointment we get the one pool for free and for the two of us ;)
We decide
to go to El Salvador tomorrow, mostly to escape from the highland climate…
