Magome

Here's how we travel Japan: by bus! Most tourist have a JR-pass and travel by fast train. We choose to travel by bus because we're used to it and it's way cheaper ;-) The buses are super comfy...

The stations to get on or off the bus are a bit an acquired taste - but it works! Here we arrive in Magome.

A traditional Hotel, Royokan, with two Onsen (hot springs) is our home for the next two days. During the day we hike and in the late afternoon we start with wellness :-) The Onsen culture (hot springs, sauna and water fountains for massage) is a great thing and we feel totally familiar with it. No fotos inside because it is by gender and an absolut nudist thing... But here we are in our traditional kimono, which we wear everywhere within the hotel!

Also, the breakfast is a real treat - traditional Japanese food...

And here the wonderful green landscape around Magome.

They have really good streets throughout the last village. Rice fields are everywhere.

We take the bus from Magome to go to Tsumago, to then hike from Tsumago back to Magome. Here a downtown street of old Magome...

Here we start our hike in Tsumago. It's a really old, traditional and beautiful village.

Yes, it's somehow similar to Switzerland...

Obligatory food stops of course! Great dumplings!

Though Tsumago and Magome are not unknown to tourists, during the hike we totally have our peace. It's wonderful!
