After a 16
hours trip to Panama City, we are amazed by how modern the Capital is!
Skyscrapers everywhere! And most important: 30 degrees and sun. We stay for 3
nights and discover the city. Highlight is the local fish market where we get
some fresh fish and ceviche! The people are very friendly and it’s easy to
connect. It’s fun to be here and explore la vida panameña. It’s also a big plus
to speak Spanish and just get in touch easily with the locals.
And of course we visit the Panama Canal. Well, from a Swiss perspective just a water gate - but yes, it's THE Panama Canal - impressive to think about it!!
We then
move on to a small village on the Pacific called Farallón. Finally at the
beach! The beach is lovely and the temperature of the ocean just perfect. Lots
of pelicans are always with us at the sea. As we have a major desire of warm
temperatures, we decide to travel along the coast.
Next stop is Playa Las Lajas – only for one night as it rains nonstop. But again, the beach is great and stretches for 12 kilometres! As we have two coasts to enjoy – let’s go to the Caribbean Sea and check out the weather there!!

So we take the bus to the other side of the country: The beautiful Caribbean! At the archipelago Bocas del Toro we are rewarded with what could be called dream beaches… Judge for yourself... It’s just amazing! So far we have already seen dolphins, rays, sloths, really big starfishes (around 30 centimetres), generally lots of fishes, red frogs… to be continued…
