Hampi Day 1

From Gokarna we took a direct bus to Hospet, and from there went on to Hampi by autoriksha. It was the worst bus so far we had in India, but we had good seats in the front. It was a loooong 10 hours ride... It was a great journey nevertheless as the bus only drove on side roads and we passed through many tiny villages. We had many insideviews of villages which we otherwise would not have seen.

In Hampi we found a lovely place to stay. A big shock though was that of 375 buildings in Hampi Bazaar 300 have been demolished... The Indian Government has decided that this was necessary, as there are more archeological founds in this area. So there are only few houses left and lots of demolished ruins...

In Hampi there is a lot to discover. So the first day we went by foot and searched for old ruins. It really is an amazing place, as many ruins are scattered around in the nearby mountains. Plus, they are almost all for free! So we walked from Hampi to the next place called Kamalapuram and saw many fascinating ruins... All in all it was a joyfull 5 hours trek.

What a great day full of impressions!
