Last day in India

Here it is, our last day in India...

We started with the lovely and very relaxing Lodi Park. Lots of Indian couples!

Inside the park there are several historic tomb-monuments.

Next stop was Gandhi Smritri, the place were Gandhi was shot in 1948. Very moving place and it also has a nice and big museum. Here you can see the last few steps Gandhi made before he got shot by a radical hindu.

Last stop: Humayun's Tomb. This was the insperation for the Taj Mahal. Weather was good and we were there for sunset :)

And now we still have one last delicious Indian meal to eat before we head to the airport.
India was amazing!!!

Delhi

We are now in the Capital of India: Delhi. This is also the last destination of our India-trip... It's a really interesting city with a lot to see and experience. And of course the typical Indian traffic and chaos is very present :)

Here is the very nice Connaught Place which has lots of shops and restaurants.

Here a pic of the Chandni Chowk Bazaar in Old Delhi. Narrow and small streets, lots of shops, bycicle-rikshas and of course a lot of Indian people...

Here the Red Fort.

The biggest mosque of India: Jama Masjid.

The view from the mosque.

The next day we went to see Bahai House of Worship or also called the Lotus Temple, which is open for all religions as a place for prayer and meditation. The temple is built like the lotus flower and is really beautiful.

We also went by the Gate of India...

Tomorrow is our last day in India. We still have a nice program for this last day before we have our flight back home in the middle of the night . On our way back home we'll make a stop in Moscow, hehe ;)

Taj Mahal, Agra

Well, we knew that when we would see the Taj, our journey would almost reach its end. But what a better end could one have than with one of the seven wonders of the ancient world: The Taj Mahal. It is a really beautiful building with its history.

We woke up at 5 a.m. to be among the first in the waitingline - and we did it. As it is sunday, we feared the mass. But we could escape it, because most tourist just do a flying visit from Delhi and we found some peaceful minutes. Unfortunately, the weather was bad, so we did not really get a "sunrise bhououoouo feeling..." Anyway, it was just great! Here our selection:

Of course, the must do picture ;)

The view from The Taj towards the entrance gates.

After all this impressions and the early getting up, we had breakfast on a nice rooftop with this view, to say goodbye to the Taj ;)

But, our journey did not yet come to an end, we still have some sparkling days in nice Delhi, which we will totally enjoy :-)

Jaipur

In Jaipur a lot of water awaited us... It had rained through for 3 days, so the streets were full of water... The 3 days we stayed it rained some more, so muddy streets were all over us...

Here a street impression

We did some sightseeing. Here is the famous City Palace of Jaipur:

Very impressive: the Jantar Mantar, an old observatory...

Hawa Mahal or The Palace of Winds!

The next day we headed out to the Amber Fort, very nice!

A street impression on the way to our next sightseeing-stop...

Next stop: The Royal Gator, some royal cenotaphes...

Then we went up to the Nahargarh Fort, where one has some lovely views on the city of Jaipur...

The next day we went for the Pink City, the old part of Jaipur...

From Jaipur we then took the bus to Agra to see the faboulus Taj Mahal... Pics are coming soon. Now, we have just arrived in Delhi, our final destination for this journey :-(

Udaipur

Udaipur is a small, pretty, and relaxing city, only the mass of tourists are really annoying. So there are a lot of places just for tourists, of course, with fantasy tourist prices - as we call it. But by digging just a little deeper into it, we found alss really lovely, chilly places without tourists. Here you can see the shore of the lake Pichola with the City Palace on the hill.

This is the view from our hotel. Behind you can also see the City Palace...

Nice buildings on the lake shore.

The lovely sunset ambiance...

Of course, again we had really good thalis.

The City Palace is really big and we had our fun to spend a nice afternoon in the Palace and the attached museum.

Noëmi in silver shopping action with a nice family.

You know, we love the relaxed indian cows :)

With the sleeper train we moved on to Jaipur, where we are now :)
