Little Corn Island
The last week has come and we decided to finish our trip with chilling on the Corn Islands.
We took a really tiny airplane to the Big Corn Island...
...than a small boat to the Small Corn Island like the ones below...
And we arrived in Paradise !!!
With two Italians which we met at the Airport, we searched for a nice hotel - which we found.
Best of all, the four of us formed a really good crew and we spent the whole time together - it just was perfect :-)
... a nice Restaurant...
...exploring the beautiful island...
...the small village...

Volcano Tour - Day 4
Day 4 began at 4 am... We left the tents and started our hike in the dark, equiped with torches... Which made it somehow a really smooth walk... We did not see how long and steep the way really was, which was good for the psyche... It was a 1:40 hike and we arrived on time for the sunrise...
Yes, we also did the last one...ask our legs ;-)
It was time for the last downhill run... The panorama is just unbelievable!
Yes, it was steep...
Here you can see all other 4 volcanoes we did conquer...
We hiked down to the camp site, packed our stuff and walked back to the car at the basis station... And last but not least a little cultural intersection with the visit of León Viejo... To make it clear: it was not the Momotombo that destroyed the former Capital of Nicaragua...
Driving back to León... Our thoughts circle around a comfy bed, showering and a massage :-)
And how could you end a trip better than with good food? Quesillos, mmmhhhh....
The Volcano Tour was absolutely amazing and an unique experience! We had our shower, comfy bed and massage and are back on track :-) We now move on to Managua and from there it's time for the Caribbean!!!
Volcano Tour - Day 3
Day 3 was action time! But it started very smoothly with this amazing sunrise at 6 am... The night was long, but we did not get too much sleep... hard underground and lots of wind making it pretty uncomfortable... But the sunrise compensated it all :-)
Next stop was the crater of El Hoyo, rather small...
We walked down to where we left the car - El Cerro Negro basis station - and prepared for Volcano number 4, Cerro Negro (728m altitude). This one includes a fast and furious way down - Sand Boarding!!!
On top next to the crater... a short, but hard trek in the sun - 60 minutes, 500m altitude...
Mission to Mars??? No, just our special outfit for surfing down Cerro Negro :-)
Getting ready for the ride! 1, 2, 3... Go!
Next stop on this eventful day was La Laguna Asososco... A much needed swim to relax and wash of the sand from Cerro Negro... Perfect!
But the day was not over yet... We drove to Momotombo's basis station and fully equiped walked to our camp site... another hour of trekking! We were really exausted and our guide, too :-) ... Bedtime at 7 pm
Volcano Tour - Day 2
We slept at the guide's mother's house at a small country village, to be more specific, in their "garden"... We had a terrible sleep in the tent - roosters active all night, hard underground... but Day 2 was going to be relaxed...
Shower time à la local :-) It was time to get off this dirt!!!
Back on the road to Volcano number 3, El Hoyo (1050m altitude)...
Here's our car and in the back you see El Cerro Negro, Volcano number 4 (for the next day)...
Fully equiped with tents, sleepings bags, lots of water and food we hiked up to El Hoyo, 2.5 hours and wonderful views awaiting...
In the back you see Volcano Momotombo (number 5) and El Lago de Managua, breath-taking!
And here it is, the actual "hoyo" (whole)... In the middle of the volcano a part colapsed and forms this hoyo...
Outdoor camping at its best... Just us and nature, camp fire and lots of wind! Good times!
Sunset time!!
